Importance of accurate diagnosis using real-time three-dimensional echocardiography in the surgical treatment of congenital intramitral ring in infants.

چکیده
Congenital mitral ring is a rare type of congenital mitral stenosis. There are two types of mitral ring: the intramitral ring and the supramitral ring. Intramitral rings are often associated with complex valve pathology, and therefore have a worse prognosis than supramitral rings, in which the mitral apparatus is usually normal. The role of echocardiography in the evaluation of the mitral valve apparatus is crucial, because it allows an identification of the types of malformation, their hemodynamic repercussion and early predictors of the outcome. We describe two cases of intramitral ring, the diagnostic challenge they provided, and the value of the information obtained using real-time three-dimensional echocardiography in such cases.

Three-Dimensional Image of A Communicating Uterus
Recent advances in reproductive medicine have created a demand for more accurate and safe imaging modalities before assisted reproductive treatment(ART) (1). Gradually, the important role of three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography in the diagnosis of uterine congenital anomalies has been proved (2-4).
متن کاملDynamic three-dimensional echocardiographic imaging of congenital heart defects in infants and children by computer-controlled tomographic parallel slicing using a single integrated ultrasound instrument.
Three-dimensional cardiac reconstruction generated from transesophageal interrogation can be performed using an integrated unit that captures, processes, and postprocesses tomographic parallel slices of the heart. This probe was used for infants and young children in the transthoracic position to evaluate the feasibility of producing three-dimensional cardiac images with capability for real-tim...

Background: Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is a prevalent disorder, which is associated with several other congenital anomalies, especially cardiac diseases. The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of congenital heart disease (CHD) in the neonates with CH.Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on two groups of 79 subjects to compare the type and frequency of congenital ca...
متن کاملComparative study of pulse oximetry, physical examination and echocardiography results in the diagnosis of congenital heart defects in neonates in the first 24 hours of life
Introduction: Congenital heart disease is the most common congenital anomaly. About 50% of Neonates with congenital heart disease are asymptomatic in the first few days of life and are not diagnosed on initial examination. Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive method that can show the percentage of oxygen saturation in the blood and congenital heart disease. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-se...
متن کاملA Survey of Congenital Hypothyroidism Screening Results in Healthcare Centers of Isfahan, District No. 1
Introduction:Congenital hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the major preventable causes of mental retardation (MR) in infants. Before the implementation of screening programs, early diagnosis of CH at birth was impossible, and led to MR during childhood. CH screening not only promotes early diagnosis and rapid treatment, but also prevents the complications associated with CH. It also decreases famil...
